Vintage Floral Nails: A Touch of Cottagecore
Spring in Hong Kong always flutters by. One moment the blooms start colouring the streets, then before you know it, boom it’s already dripping wet and we’re thrown straight into summer. But it just doesn’t feel like spring if I don’t get at least one floral mani.
I had several ideas in mind: Y2K, retro (remember the daisy nails that I loved last year?), bohemian – or a mix of all of these. You can already tell that I ended up settling for something completely different.
I rarely opt for dried flowers in my nails as it’s a mightily fine line between looking delicate versus dated. So we broke off the flowers into teensy bits with their stalks intact and colours were limited to only purple, pink and a minty shade. I opted for a creamy nude base to deliver that cottagecore aesthetic and added gold flecks to fill out any gaps, almost like a floral mosaic.
The rest of the nails were a beautiful taupe. I love that these pearlised accents we found come with gold trim which adds to that vintage, almost Victorian feel and looks cute paired with bohemian rings. So not me, I know. Not pictured: my hair kept getting stuck on the pearls when I combed it.
