Coral Pink: Dressing Down Neon Colours with Neutrals for Spring
By now, most of my friends have figured out that I have an unusual affinity for orange tones. Not the full-on Dutch orange, but its cousins like salmon, terracotta and burnt sienna. A cross between coral and salmon pink is my favourite for spring – it’s cheery with a delightful burst of raw energy that doesn’t come across as too loud or unoriginal. Pretty much everything I wish I could be in the damp spring weather.
If you have warm skin undertones as I do, orange tends to look a lot more flattering than pink (which goes so much better IMO with cool skin tones). My favourite makeup products all take on a peachy shade: tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Captivating, fresh's Sugar Tint Lip Treatment SPF15 in Punch and Dior Lip Glow in Coral just to name a few.
As with skin tones, coral pairs beautifully with whites and warm neutrals. It was full-on spring so I donned a loose tee with a coordinating cap and Y2K beaded jewellery. The rest of the outfit was kept light and airy, except for the more saturated tones of the CELINE Frame to tie the outfit together. If you’re unsure about wearing neon colours (I feel you!), you can always start with a paler alternative. Throw on a blazer in ecru or natural linen will also easily pare it down a notch.
I can’t believe I’ve never shared these pictures on the blog as they were taken over a year ago (the cafe has already closed down, so don’t ask me where it is). But better late than never, right?
