Calzedonia Indonesia: The Super-soft, Classic Bikini
Scorching, late summer days call for bikinis.
Even though I reach for one-piece suits on most days, sometimes I do want that little oomph, and that’s where a flattering, classic bikini comes right in. And who better to call on for swimwear basics than Calzedonia?
Although they started as an Italian stocking brand, they’re widely known for quality swimwear staples that stay on trend and can easily be mixed and matched to your heart’s content. I’ve had this bikini set for years now, and while I save it for chill lounge days by the pool, it’s a keeper that is incredibly flattering and makes me feel good every time I wear it.
Their swim collection comes in seasonal fabrics like satin and glitter, but the solid colours are their real signature, made in a super-soft fabric that doesn’t rub against the skin or pill with wear. And even if a push-up style is not your thing, you can find every classic silhouette in the same fabric: from triangle and balconette tops to high-waisted and ruched bottoms.
The Indonesia bikini top offers demi-coverage with graduated padding and underwire support. The Indonesia style features bands that cross over the centre bridge and ties at the back, which I’ve found slightly more modest than a regular push-up with a plunging neckline. If you have a longer torso, the wraparound design will also visually fill out any empty space and balance proportions. Another neat feature is that the shoulder straps have eyelets on the ends, so they can be hooked onto the back band or tied around the neck for a halter fit.
The matching Indonesia tie bikini bottoms feature a Brazilian cut with a central seam down the back to ensure a better fit. The front has a slightly rounded waist and can be tied as a regular fit or with a higher leg at the hips for a more flattering leg. Again, the material is soft enough that it doesn’t dig into your hips regardless of how you wear it.
