Returning in semi-lockdown is depressing and has messed up everyone’s plans for date night. I recently discovered a hidden love for reds in my wardrobe, and I can’t complain. There’s something strong yet feminine about the colours, and this fil coupé dress from SaturdayClub is a perfect outfit for date night! It’s rendered from crinkle crepe for that delicate draped look and comes fully lined for coverage and volume in the skirt.

I know what you’re thinking by this point… Yes, it’s a dress, albeit a v-neck sleeveless one. Unfortunately, the weather’s been miserable in Hong Kong, so I decided to tuck in a crew neck sweater instead. 

I’ve been trying different ways to repurpose my summer wardrobe, and this is my favourite trick to get extra mileage out of dresses and jumpsuits. It’s also a nifty way to wear items that might appear too loud or low-cut in the office… and switch them up once the day is over. For example, I used a wider 1.5” belt because I wanted it to be visible, but for chunky knits, you can always use a skinny one so it stays hidden underneath.

As much as I love this wardrobe hack, I can’t wait to wear the spring dress – I’m already styling it in my head with a cap, baguette bag and sneakers. I’ll show you that look again once the weather comes around!

Editor’s note: This dress has a smocking to cinch in the waist. If you’re worried about it digging in or feeling too hot, you can size up for more allowance.
