Head-to-Toe in Sandro this Chinese New Year

Parisian chic runs in Sandro’s DNA. The brand is having a moment, and I love browsing their racks in-store – even if I don’t pick up anything, their mannequins are always styled on point, and I love finding inspiration from their colourful collections!

I pieced together a warm outfit from my favourite Sandro pieces this Chinese New Year, just in time for the recent cold spell.

Ginn Checked Jacquard Sweater

This sweater with a blown-up heritage check reflects Sandro’s fondness for patterns. Because it’s red without screaming “Merry Christmas” or “Kung Hei Fat Choy”, I can get away with wearing it during other times of the year.

It’s richly textured with a hint of stretch, making it easy to bundle over other layers. I like to wear a plain top underneath to prevent the brushed mohair from getting too prickly.

Dual High-rise Two-tone Jeans

I’ve reached the age where I’m itching to replace all the stretchy skinnies in my wardrobe with rigid mom jeans, and Sandro offers 100% cotton denim in looser silhouettes like straight and wide legs.

I did buy these with the full expectation of them being mom jeans to hit at my ankle – I’m not petite but these jeans are at least 3-4 inches too long on me and the tapered leg doesn’t sit very right. This is why I either leave them slouchy over dad sneakers or cuff them widely. They are also two-toned jeans, meaning the back panels are slightly darker than the front, though honestly, it’s hard to see unless you’re really scrutinising up close.

That being said, these jeans still feel fantastic – the mid-weight cotton is not constricting and doesn’t bag out so they’ve become a regular in my denim rotation.

Grant Ranger Leather Booties

Fashion’s interpretation of ranger boots takes its cues from military combat boots with a modern twist like cleated soles and block heels. Sandro definitely got the details right with these booties: from multi-coloured laces to speed hooks and a buckled strap that sits snugly on top.

Being slightly chunky, these booties have somewhat of an attitude and add just the right amount of sass to any outfit. But boy, they are on the heavy side so I won’t attempt living in them for consecutive days.
